Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8

Devoitoin for today......What kind of cupcake are you??????
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. " Ephesians 5:2
Ok so me and my daughter are hooked on the GIGI's cupcakes....I don't believe you can get any better than those cupcakes. Every time we go to Tupelo, we have to go by GIGI's to try the new flavor. It is also fun baking and decorating cupcakes. When it boils down to it though, it's not how cute and appealing they are entirely but what people think of them when they bite down into those cupcakes. Although, GIGI's is pretty and appealing they are delicious as well.
It's the appearance, flavor, and all the qualities of a cupcake combined that makes it good. There's a similarity between what makes a good cupcake and what makes our lives good as Christians.
- Appearance
The first thing I think we all notice about cupcakes before we eat them is their appearance. When I go to purchase a cupcakes at GIGI's me and my daughter have to look over all of them before we can pick just the right one. We usually take our time before we get the one we want. We want the biggest, prettiest, and the one with the most icing on top.
What do you look like as a Christian? Got your icing on just right? Are you a little lopsided? Are you showing Christ's love to others? Are you pleasing to be around? Are you bearing that fruit that we are to show in our Christian lives? - Smell
The next thing I think we can tell about cupcakes when we pick them up is the smell. Do they have a particular scent? Do they have a pleasing aroma or even a burnt scent to them?
What about you? Are you repugnant to others? Are you living your Christian life with that "sweetsmelling savour"? - Sweetness
As you bite into a cupcake one of the first things you are going to notice is the sweetness. None of us normally like our cupcakes not to be sweet. It's what is expected of them. If we wanted something that wasn't sweet, we'd choose some type of muffin.
As Christians, we are expected to be sweet too. Sweetness shouldn't be something we are lacking in. We are to show Christ's love to the world and we do that by how we act and what we say. Words and actions that are not sweet don't further the cause of Christ. - Flavor
Next as we bite into the cupcake, one thing we notice is the flavor. What does it taste like? Do you recognize any spices, flavors, or special ingredients? Do all the ingredients combine to make it taste good?
As Christians we are reminded to keep our flavor as well. Matthew 5:13 says, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."
If we don't live our lives like Christians, how can the world ever tell the difference between us and those that don't know Christ? They won't be able to recognize our flavor. - Moistness
While eating our cupcake, another thing that will stick out is how moist it is. There's nothing I like worse than a dry cupcake. Moisture is a vital part of how a cupcake tastes.
As Christians, when we aren't allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us, we turn out pretty dry too. We don't accomplish anything for Christ and don't bear that fruit that we are told to bear. - Ease of Eating
Cupcakes are made to be easy to handle. It's the biggest difference between a cupcake and a regular cake. You can pick the cupcake up in your hand and eat it. No forks necessary. I love cupcakes that have all those pretty decorations, but sometimes it does hinder the ability to dive in and eat that cupcake.
What about you? As a Christian, are you easy to swallow? How do your actions come across? Are you easy to be around or can you only be handled in small doses? Does your attitude get in the way? - Icing
I know there are cupcakes out there that people don't ice and sometimes if I bake them I like to take the cupcakes off the cooling rack before I get them iced, but really it's not a cupcake to me if it doesn't have some icing on top. You can't have too little or too much icing on a cupcake. Also the icing has to be the right flavor to enhance the cake part of the cupcake.
It is like that in our lives too. We need to have balance and some self-control. Our bodies are a temple and we have to be very careful what we allow into our lives. What are you topping your life with? Are the things you allow in embellishing you as a Christian? - Special Additions
Don't you love those cupcakes that have that extra added surprise to them? Maybe it's a filled cupcake, or has something special inside such as nuts or a flavor you are not expecting. It's that extra special touch.
How about you? Does your life have a few sprinkles or something special on top? Got any surprise fillings that you are hiding? Are you using your talents and gifts that God has blessed you with?
The outcome of a cupcake all depends on it's preparation. It's the same with womanhood and even motherhood. You have to prepare yourself. What kind of batter are you going to be filled with? What kind of daughter, mother, or friend are you going to turn out to be?
For us as Christian women, there's got to be some key ingredients such as Bible study, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. Our batter should be all those things we depend on to help round us out and make us into those sweet Christian women that we are capable of being.
We have to allow the Lord to have control of the batter and of the oven settings or we may find ourselves dry, crumbly, and without any flavor. When we don't surrender to the Lord we can easily end up with the burnt smell of sin seeping through our cupcake liner or even come out half baked. Without yielding to the Lord's control it puts our lives in danger of running over the edges, stuck, and crusted to the pan.

Devotion- What is in your purse today??????

What is in your purse today?
As I got to the gas station this morning, I was looking through my purse, , for a pen. When I couldn't find one right away, it struck me that I should really clean out my purse. It's such a pretty purse on the outside but it sure is messy on the inside. It's bad when you have to pull your wallet out quickly in order to pay for something and then put it away really fast because you're afraid someone's going to see what a mess your purse is inside. It struck me as I sat at the gas station getting my gas pumped that I could be asked almost anything and I'd have it on hand in my purse.
Why do I put in all those things to carry around with me when I go somewhere? Some of them are just so unnecessary. I think that I do that as a Christian too. I get up and pop in my bag a lot of unnecessary things that I don't need to be carrying around with me throughout the day. Maybe I should just stick to the basics and take along in my purse just some necessities.
Cell Phone.
The first thing I'd better put in my purse is my communication devise, which is prayer of course. If I need something, all I need to do is pray and the Lord is there to hear me.
Weather I talk a lot or not on my cell phone I want to make sure I have that in my purse because it sure is nice to have that safe feeling of knowing it's there. It gives me a sense of security. Having that open communication with Christ throughout the day gives me an even greater sense of security.
Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Keys.
I'll need my keys to drive my car and to unlock the house door when I come home. Faith is the key that unlocks doors so that's something I surely don't want to leave behind. Have you ever locked yourself out of your car or out of your house? That is such a helpless feeling when you are left without your keys. It's the same way when we leave faith out of our lives. We're stuck and helpless as Christians. Faith is imperative to our survival each day.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh
to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
Drivers License. (In Wallet)
Next I'd better pop in my identification. Having that card in my wallet that has my picture on it and says I can drive is great because not only can I drive with it but it serves as identification for me too. My identification with Christ gives me even greater benefits; I have eternal life through Him. If I remember my identification with the Lord it will make me think a little more about the way I act and react throughout my day. I'm one of God's children.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the
children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and
joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that
we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:16,17
Money or Debit Card. (In Wallet)
If I'm going out to run errands, I'm usually going to end up spending some money or having to use my debit card in case I need to make some purchases. Instead of just investing in earthly things, I hope I find myself laying up some treasure in Heaven throughout my day.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
Sunglasses.
I'll want to keep a pair of sunglasses with me. I hope I can remember to look through my eyes throughout the day as Christ would. I need to see with eyes of love, compassion, and kindness.
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love,
if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfill ye my joy,
that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one
mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of
mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man
on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind
be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation,
and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:1-8
Package of Tissues.
Better throw a pack of tissues into my purse. I need to be reminded to shed a few tears for others souls. I trust I'll have a tender heart when it comes to the question of eternity for those I meet throughout my day.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Psalm 126:5
Hand Lotion
I'll need to drop in a tube of hand lotion before I go. I need to be reminded to put a little softness into my day when I react to situations and to people that I come in contact with.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous
words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1
Hairbrush/Pick
I can't forget to take along a hairbrush/pick. I'd better brush through my worries, as I don't want those tangling up my day. I need to brush them away by meditating on God's Word.
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth
what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Matthew 6:8
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall
we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these
things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that
ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the
evil thereof. Matthew 6:31-34
It is so easy to get up in the morning and drop in some unnecessary things to take along with us as we go about our day. Sometimes I take grumpiness or a bad attitude with me on my way. Those things really clutter up my life. You may have some other things that you carry with you all the time that are getting in your way of serving Christ on a daily basis. I think sometimes we need to turn our lives upside down and dump everything out except for those things that honor Christ. We need to be tidy with our Christian lives and just have those things at our fingertips that please the Lord.
Scripture to think about: I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith fo the Son of God, who loved me, and gavme himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Everyone have a blessed day until the next time!!!!!

Something on my mind today>.....
I went back today and read some of the older devotions that I had wrote over the last year....wow at the time of writing these I never knew what was headed my way.
We all go through trials and temptations the important thing to remember is when going through these times is that we always keep our eyes upon the Lord. My life has changed so much over the last few months. I have had ups and downs just like everyone else in life. There is some things that I have went through that the Lord has taught me many lessons. One of my biggest lessons I guess that I have learned is to always keep my eyes turned toward the Lord never let anything weather it be a person, a lifestyle, or anything that you can think of get your eyes off of the Lord. If we take our eyes off of Him and try to make things work without His approval we are headed for a road of destruction, and I hate to say this but I was headed in that direction. I thought I was doing everything right not knowing that I was fixing to make the biggest mistake of my life. I tried to lie to myself and make myself believe that I was the happiest woman around knowing deep in my heart that I was not happy at all I was just tired of being in the place that I was and was trying to make myself have a "normal" life as I had always put it. I begin to pray Lord help me feel happy if the decisions I have made are not right send something my way to let me know before it is to late and wow the Lord did just that and my eyes were opened widely.
I thank the Lord for never giving up on me even when at times I may give up on myself. I am thankful that he never says I am tired of messing with you I don't want to go through this today. If He did that I along with all of us would be in a big mess! I am thankful for the saints of God that the Lord has placed in my life to pray for me. My eyes were opened and my life has changed although the circumstances have changed there is still alot of things that the Lord is working out in my life there is a lot of hurt, there is a lot of understanding that needs to be understood but I know that the Lord will give me all the answers and heal the hurts and carry me through the storm.
I heard this song yesterday and it has stuck with me and explains my life as of now....maybe it can help someone else as well......Name of it is The Unexpected Storm....
anymore It seems my whole world has fell apart and right now you're wondering does the master even see does he know where I'm standing has he forgotten about me. Well the unexpected storm it hasn't caught me by surprise for right now he is watching you and thou he will see you through safe on the other side you don't have to be afraid through the thunder and the rain in the shelter of his arms he'll keep you safe from harm through the unexpected storm. Every storm has a reason though it's hard to understand every trial has a purpose for its all just a part of his plan through all of your questions he would never leave your side oh but he'll be your refuge until your storm passes by.
Everyone be blessed........
